I am still in training – going to college on Friday’s and to Uni on Thursday’s 🙂 my apprenticeship last for 3 years so the same as any university course but on top of that we get real experiance which will help progress our career and we get paid too!

I did a four year course at university which was three years of traditional studying for a mechanical engineering degree combined with one year of working as part of my apprenticeship.

The way it worked was that in each of the first three years of sudying I did one term in each year working at Jaguar in lots of different departments. The final year was a full three terms of studying.

I’m in the fourth and final year of my Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.

I go to university 1 day per week and work at Rolls-Royce for the other 4. As I’ve been studying part-time my degree has taken a year longer than it would have done if you went full time.

I’m still training so I not finished yet! When I started the apprenticeship, I went to college for 8 weeks, where I studied 4 units. I was then put on a site to build my experience and allow me to use my knowledge in the real world. In April I will return to college for another 7 weeks, studying another 4 units – and then be placed at a different site. This is Year 1… Year 2 will start in October when I return to college and the whole process starts again….

… does that make sense? Not sure if it did haha 😛
