The most challenging project I ever worked on was during my Apprenticeship when I was working in our tooling department, helping to design tools to build and transport our latest engine the Trent XWB.

I was tasked with developing a technical manual for the engine’s transportation stand, its so large we have to ship the engine in 2 pieces and then reassemble it at the other end!

I had to work closely with the tooling supplier who were based all the way over in Germany, so I had to contend with the distance and with the language barrier as well.

It was very difficult and getting the information in the right form to the customer on time was really tough and took many long hours. 🙂

Leading the team that designed and made the doors for the Jaguar XJ. They were made in aluminium to save weight which is much more difficult than working with steel.

What made this project the most challenging for me though was the size of the team, which was the largest I had ever had to lead – around 30 engineers. It was also the largest budget that I’d had to manage up to that point in my career.

I’m sorry to be boring but I’m still only on my first project. However, this is still very very challenging for me because I am constantly learning new things and having to adapt to situations I have never experienced before. 🙂

Same aswer as to your previous question: So far, I think the biggest project I completed was at University – designing, analysing and building a UAV model aircraft. It took 8 months of research, loads fo calculations, testing, analysisng results, changing the desing, building protoypes, doing test flight + on top of all this – filling paperwork! but I think it was the best project I have worked on so far! the most interesting and rewarding – it was great to witness all the hard work taking off for the first time !!
