I was an apprentice at Jaguar Cars, so I got to learn all aspects of engineering and manufacturing a motor car.

It stood me in good stead because I carried on doing that job for another 30 years after I successfully completed my apprenticeship.

I was an apprentice of the Royal Air Force. This lasted initially for two years followed by 3-4 years of on the job training.
